Dan's journey from battlefield to boardroom

At Collaborative Anesthesia Partners (CAP), we pride ourselves on being led by someone who understands the intricate blend of medicine and business. Dan, our CEO, isn't just a seasoned professional in anesthesia—he's a leader shaped by a unique journey that began on the battlefields of Iraq.

A military introduction to healthcare

Dan's path into healthcare started during his first tour in Iraq, where he served as his Fireteam's Combat Lifesaver. This role required him to undergo additional training in battlefield emergency medical treatment, sparking his passion for the medical field. After his military service, Dan initially aspired to become a physician assistant. However, the GI Bill led him in a different direction, and he pursued a Bachelor's in Nursing at Auburn University.

Finding his calling in anesthesia

While working at a VA hospital during his senior year, Dan was introduced to the United States Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing (USAGPAN). With unwavering determination, he fulfilled all prerequisites and was one of only four VA students nationwide accepted into the prestigious program in 2016.

After completing the USAGPAN program, Dan embarked on his career as a locum in Pennsylvania, eventually landing a full-time position at the Togus VA Medical Center in Augusta, Maine. His time in Maine was marked by significant contributions to the Maine Association of Nurse Anesthetists (MEANA), where he served as the Reimbursement Specialist and was later elected as President-Elect.

Building businesses and empowering CRNAs

Dan's entrepreneurial spirit led to the founding of two successful businesses in 2017: New England Vascular Access and Collaborative Anesthesia Partners (CAP). His expertise in anesthesia billing and business practices quickly made him a sought-after consultant for Nurse Anesthesiologists across the country. Dan's vision for CAP was clear—to provide comprehensive anesthesia services, from staffing to revenue cycle management, all while empowering CRNAs to practice to the full scope of their training.

Today, CAP's team includes over 40 CRNA/MDA anesthesia providers, serving rural hospitals and office-based settings across multiple states. Under Dan's leadership, CAP has consistently exceeded expectations, securing multiple government contracts worth over $10 million and providing seamless anesthesia care.

A commitment to education and excellence

In addition to leading CAP, Dan is dedicated to educating the next generation of CRNAs. He serves as adjunct faculty at the University of New England, focusing on pain pathways and Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anesthesia. He also leads regional workshops and lectures on business practices, ensuring that CRNAs have the knowledge and skills to succeed as full-practice providers.

If you're looking for full-service anesthesia management, from interventional pain management to office-based anesthesia, CAP is here to deliver safe, seamless care. Contact us today to learn how we can support your anesthesia needs.
